2017 Port Aransas, Texas, Sand Pumpkin Patch
This is a real fun event.
Pam Green of the Port Aransas Parks and Recreation organizes a jack-o-lantern carving event with a twist. The pumpkins are made of sand and people come out on Saturday morning before Halloween and carve a jack-o-lantern out of sand. I do a centerpiece the day before and light it up that night hoping the Great Pumpkin will think Port Aransas's pumpkin patch is the most sincere. This is the recreation division of the Parks and Recreation Department's event.
Big thanks to Ken Barnett for helping with the ghostly ghouls. Ken does a great job each year adding his creative talents to the centerpiece. Thanks also to the people that come out and help stack the pumpkins for the visitor's to carve into jack-o-lanterns. Also like to thank all the people that come out and play in the sand. It was great to give the people a chance to play on the beach, be creative, and escape the funk of Harvey lingering over us. Just serves to remind us that Harvey's damage is only temporary. We can all still have fun and enjoy the things we love about this island paradise called Port Aransas, Texas.
Port 'A' Strong, Port 'A' Stronger.
