This is what I love: 55°, wind gusts up to 40 mph, and these guys still want to play in the sand. They have had two lessons, spent the last three days playing in the sand and, they still want to learn more about sand-sculpting. They are welcome on Mustang Island anytime they want to come.

They built a sea-serpent, a partial turtle, an advanced castle and, a brick walkway.

If you stayed in on a day like today, you missed out on all the fun.

The sun started coming up about 7:30 am and the carvings made it through the night.

For a donation to the food bank you could carve a jack-o-lantern out of a sand pumpkin made by the Port Aransas High School Key Club students.

Key Club members were a big help.

A couple of Port 'A' High School Students carved Frankenstein's monster in sand.

Started to day with a wedding party sandcastle lesson.

All the men stayed up all night fishing and most missed the chance to carve a castle.

This group comes in from San Antonio after the Labor Day Rush.

They say they like the beach a little calmer and less crowded.

This was their second lesson and it took place at Port Royal on Mustang Island.

This is a fun group and they remembered a lot from last year. This year they learned arches, and boy were there lots of them in this castle. Great looking towers!

Friday night rain was a pleasant sight.

Sand not great but got to a great start. When the lessons started all work got trampled. Did get some lessons in but a few unescorted youths got carried away with the fun in the sand.

Four of five years ago a family from Elgin had a lesson with the Sandcastle Guy then about two years ago they brought a couple of Webelos dens for a lesson. This year they brought the Pack and the Troop for a large lesson.

Saw the sandpiper crew busy again this year spreading joy and happiness up and down Mustang Island. Hope to see more of them all week long.

This was a fun lesson. Great stackers and carvers. I bet we see more of this crew on the island.

Another one of my advanced groups: "The Oklahomans" aptly named their castle V. It is their fifth vacation castle. What a great group, they get better every time.

I had so much fun with this first group. They are fun beach people. Got a little too much sun the day before but that didn't stop them from an early morning sandcastle lesson.

Future plans on teaching grandkids how to build a better sandcastle.

I had an 11 am lesson scheduled and am not sure what happened to it. They may have called and told me where they were and I just didn't write it down or, they could of called and canceled due to tropical storm Don. I drove the beach checking the regular stops and even went to Port Royal looking for them. When they didn't call I figured it was either a postponement or a no show. Guess I am still on a learning curve in this business. Hope I didn't disappoint someone.

Boy! what a beautiful time with this group. Met them at the Mustang Island State Park and what a great family. The girls were just great. Every tower had lots going on. Look how beautiful this castle looks next to that surf and sand. Great Job!

I met this group at Coffee Waves in Port Aransas, Texas.

Very talented. They wanted to know how the sandsculptors built castles.

Family Memories On The Beach

Great start to a really great day. This family met me at 8 am for a sandcastle lesson. Had such a great time helping them learn to stack and carve sand.

Started the day at Marker 13. Lots of nice watch towers and Wizard towers in this group.

Second lesson was a watertable castle. Perfect place for three princesses to cool off on a hot beach day.

The one princess wouldn't stop working on her tower to get a picture taken. That is concentration.
